Star Wars fans and science buffs we need you!

Always wanted to be Yoda, a Jedi Master or a robotics engineer? Your time has come.  

We are looking for volunteers to help out in the new Star Wars exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum. This is your chance to spend time in the exhibition and
share your passion for Star Wars and/or science and technology with visitors.

Help you I can, yes’
Your job will be to help visitors learn and have fun by:

  • Welcoming and directing visitors
  • Sharing your specialist knowledge of the Star Wars movies
  • Sharing your knowledge and love of science and technology
  • Helping visitors to use the interactives in the exhibition
  • Helping visitors move smoothly through the exhibition

You will need:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • An excellent understanding of Star Wars history, culture and technology
    or an interest in science communication to a lay audience
  • A good understanding of real world science and technology
  • A capacity to work with people from all ages and backgrounds
  • A strong commitment to providing a high standard of customer service
  • The ability  to participate in training
  • The ability to commit to volunteer work on a regular basis
  • Willingness to commit to the Museum's mission and values
  • Star Wars volunteers must be 16 years or older
  • Approved costumes are encouraged (please attach a photo with your application)!

If you sign up to be a Star Wars volunteer you will need to be able to work a minimum of 10 days. This could be a regular day each week or a block period during the school holidays. Training will be provided in November.

Please note:
Child Protection Legislation requires Museum staff and volunteers to complete and sign a Prohibited Person Declaration Form and a Working with Children Check Consent form in order to conduct employment screening. All checks will be treated as confidential and will be kept secure
